The 2025 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition celÂeÂbrated the artistry of olive oil proÂducÂtion like never before, awardÂing 742 oils — includÂing 517 Golds and 225 Silvers — to proÂducÂers across six conÂtiÂnents. The results marked a strong resurÂgence from 2024 and reafÂfirmed the comÂpeÂtiÂtion’s staÂtus as the most presÂtiÂgious in the olive oil world.
Italy Leads With Depth and Range
Italy once again topped the charts with 200 awards, led by standÂout proÂducÂers like Oleificio Asaro dal 1916, which secured five awards this year and eight in 2024, conÂtinÂuÂing a legacy from Sicily rooted in over a cenÂtury of olive oil makÂing. Other Italian leadÂers included Domenica Fiore and Domenico Manca, each adding to their long hisÂtoÂries of excelÂlence.
Croatia’s Rise Continues
Croatia delivÂered one of the most remarkÂable perÂforÂmances of the year, earnÂing 125 total awards, driÂven by conÂsisÂtent winÂners like Avistria d.o.o., Oleum Maris, and OPG Ivica Vlatkovic. Croatian proÂducÂers conÂtinue to domÂiÂnate with small-batch, high-qualÂity entries that resÂonate with judges year after year.
United States: California and Beyond
The United States earned 92 awards, with California-based proÂducÂers like California Olive Ranch takÂing home nine awards and Durant Olive Mill and IL Fiorello also turnÂing in strong perÂforÂmances. Manicaretti Italian Food Importers conÂtinÂued its remarkÂable run, amassÂing 59 total wins over the years, with a conÂsisÂtent presÂence at the comÂpeÂtiÂtion.
Spain: Reliable Excellence
Spain’s presÂence remained forÂmiÂdaÂble, with 93 awards earned by a wide range of proÂducÂers, includÂing Aceites Oro Bailen Galgon 99, which secured five awards in both 2024 and 2025. Newcomers and legacy brands alike conÂtributed to Spain’s medal haul, showÂing that innoÂvaÂtion and traÂdiÂtion can coexÂist.
Producers from Unexpected Places Impress
Smaller or emergÂing olive oil regions also made an impact:
Organic Excellence and Monovarietal Momentum
Organic proÂducÂers claimed 279 awards this year, up from 210 in 2024. The moveÂment toward susÂtainÂable and transÂparÂent proÂducÂtion methÂods conÂtinÂues to grow, both in scale and qualÂity. Monovarietal oils remained domÂiÂnant, with 417 awards, reinÂforcÂing conÂsumer appreÂciÂaÂtion for disÂtinct, sinÂgle-culÂtiÂvar expresÂsions.
From the time-honÂored groves of Sicily to the Pacific slopes of California and the rocky hills of Dalmatia, the 2025 NYIOOC celÂeÂbrated the world’s best olive oils and the pasÂsionÂate proÂducÂers behind them. With hisÂtoric wins, surÂprisÂing newÂcomÂers, and excepÂtional qualÂity across the board, this year’s results underÂscored the global reach and growÂing sophisÂtiÂcaÂtion of extra virÂgin olive oil.
