The first annual New York International Olive Oil Competition will showÂcase the world’s best extra virÂgin olive oils in a two-day event feaÂturÂing preÂsenÂtaÂtions and culiÂnary demonÂstraÂtions by top chefs. An interÂnaÂtional panel of experts will judge the comÂpeÂtiÂtion, with winÂners receivÂing recogÂniÂtion and the opporÂtuÂnity to be feaÂtured in disÂplays at gourmet retailÂers in New York.
The first annual New York International Olive Oil Competition will bring the world’s finest extra virÂgin olive oils to the World’s Greatest City.
The two-day event open to the pubÂlic will feaÂture preÂsenÂtaÂtions on extra virÂgin olive oil appreÂciÂaÂtion, and culiÂnary demonÂstraÂtions by some of New York’s most celÂeÂbrated chefs. An olive oil senÂsory evalÂuÂaÂtion course will be offered for indusÂtry proÂfesÂsionÂals and enthuÂsiÂasts.
An interÂnaÂtional panel of experts will judge the comÂpeÂtiÂtion which is expected to draw hunÂdreds of entries from every olive oil proÂducÂing region. The winÂners will be recÂogÂnized by the interÂnaÂtional press and share the presÂtige of takÂing the prize at the only extra virÂgin olive oil comÂpeÂtiÂtion held at the ​“Crossroads of the World.”
Several of New York’s most imporÂtant gourmet retailÂers have signed on to feaÂture the winÂning oils in speÂcially-designed disÂplays, adding to the comÂmerÂcial benÂeÂfits for the selected winÂners.
The event is co-proÂduced by Jane Street Media, pubÂlisher of the Olive Oil Times which has become the leadÂing source of olive oil inforÂmaÂtion for conÂsumers and indusÂtry proÂfesÂsionÂals.
The New York International Olive Oil Competition will take place in April, 2013.
